Over 270 participants enjoyed a perfect day on the greens and fairways at Majestic Oaks Golf Course, in Ham Lake, Minnesota. HOM Furniture’s 30th annual HOM Open Charity Golf Tournament supported local organization Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge (MNATC) and other charities by raising over $300,000.
“It’s a day we always look forward to,” remarked HOM Furniture president and CEO Rod Johansen, “it’s exciting to see so many of our local and industry partners supporting an important cause. We are fortunate to have our tournament expand each year and after 30 years, it has become a part of our culture at HOM Furniture.”
The top ten weather day began with skills challenges and brunch and then opening the tournament with a beautiful rendition of the national anthem, performed by the MNATC Choir in front of eager golfers. The day concluded with dinner, prizes and a re-cap of the year from Pastor Rich Scherber, executive director of MNATC, along with two MNATC students sharing their success stories. Scherber went onto describe how the HOM Open has been an important part in the transformation of MNATC from a single facility to now the recent purchase of their 13th facility serving over 900 men, women and teens with their long-term faith based recovery program.
Over the past 30 years, the HOM Open Charity Golf Tournament has raised a total of over $3,000,000 million dollars for charities in their communities. The tournament has grown from a small endeavor into an industry event that welcomes leaders, employees, family members, and friends to come out and show their support every year; with August 20, 2020 marking the 31st HOM Open event.
