Gold Bond Unveils 2 New Organic Mattresses

Family-owned mattress producer Gold Bond has announced its new pair of innerspring mattresses designed exclusively with organic and natural materials to deliver a chemical-free, all-natural sleeping environment. The mattresses feature organic ticking, cotton and wool cushioning and Vytex organic latex.

“We’re seeing a surge in consumer demand for organic and natural sleep products from the younger consumer base,” said Robert Naboicheck, president of Gold Bond. “Today’s consumers are very conscious about what they eat and how they furnish their homes for themselves and for their children. People spend a significant amount of time on their mattresses, and we’re seeing an uptick in consumers who are looking for a cleaner, more natural sleep experience.” “

Our latest organic mattress introduction takes the use of organic materials to a new level and addresses a common concern about the extensive use of chemicals in common household products,” added Naboicheck.

Sales of organic products grew 7.4 percent last year, according to the Organic Trade Association. In the home furnishings arena, more than half of consumers are “very interested” in buying environmentally friendly products, according to the Sustainable Furnishings Council.

In addition to the organic cotton, organic latex, organic wool, and wood, the new mattresses, Maple and Birch, are covered in an organic cotton ticking and border fabric, and the all-wood foundation is enrobed by an organic cotton fabric for a streamlined look.

Naboicheck said the organic wool used in the quilting layer is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), and the organic cotton fiber in the quilting provides a natural fire barrier. Birch uses a plush layer of Vytex organic latex, while Maple, uses a firm layer. Both mattresses are designed to retail for $1,999 in queen.

The innerspring is a Leggett & Platt-produced Bolsa unit featuring fabric-encased coils with the company’s Quantum edge steel support. It has a coil count of 1,057 in a queen-size mattress.
