Latex foam producer Talalay Global has unveiled Talalay Echo, a cost-effective solution for OEM partners looking to economically incorporate the benefits of Talalay into their hybrid and roll-packed bedding products, at the Summer Las Vegas Market.
Talalay Echo uses fabrication cuts that are pulverized into a fine powder and then combined with liquid latex during the Talalay production process. It is then produced in 1.5-inch comfort layers in twin, twin XL, full, queen, king and California king sizes.
The new product costs up to 25-percent less than a comparable 1.5-inch Talalay latex comfort layer, but maintains the benefits of increased pressure relief, durability and breathability associated with Talalay latex. It is targeted primarily to producers of price-sensitive roll-packed bedding – who typically don’t use pure Talalay comfort layers because of the premium cost – but also is suitable for hybrid mattresses.
Echo offers boxed bedding manufacturers a unique solution for adding the Talalay latex layer to the top of mattresses to deliver the buoyant sleep experience for which latex is known. The name Echo is a play on words for eco, as in eco-friendly.
“Our new manufacturing technology allows mattress producers to offer the benefits of Talalay latex without the higher costs. Plus, it’s an environmentally-friendly process because it makes use of our fabrication cuttings” said Mark Navarre, chief executive officer of Talalay Global. “It will be especially useful for bed-in-a-box products, where component costs have to be monitored so closely.”
Talalay Echo is currently featured in the company’s Las Vegas Market showroom, space B-945.
Navarre said he believes the new product will be used in most instances as the top comfort layer, which is immediately under the quilting. However, it also could be sewn onto the top of the mattress as part of a pillow-top construction.
