Mattress manufacturer King Koil has announced its strategic alliance with South Korea-based iOBED, to exclusively manufacture and distribute a new lineup under the “Smartlife Mattress by King Koil” moniker, globally.
The first three SKUs of the new line will be introduced at the Las Vegas Summer Market and will retail between $3,500 and $4,500.
In development for over five years, Smartlife Mattress by King Koil’s patented iOBED Technology utilizes a scientific algorithm that powers its smart cells to adjust the mattress automatically to fit a consumer’s unique body shape, weight, sleep position and preferences. An app with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capability controls the programming and monitoring of the sleep system.
“iOBED has developed a truly unique technology. Through our strategic alliance, Smartlife Mattress by King Koil will tap into the growing segment of consumers who want the ultimate smart mattress on the market today,” said David Binke, CEO, King Koil.
Smartlife Mattress by King Koil, powered by iOBED’s technology, offers consumers real-time sleep monitoring and data analysis for direct feedback on sleep quality. Each mattress incorporates 80 individual smart cells and eight independently controlled zones from head to toe. Because everyone has different sleep preferences, Smartlife Mattress by King Koil has additionally developed multiple settings of firmness control so the user may adjust to their personal sleeping needs. Smartlife Mattress by King Koil has also incorporated a built-in alarm that wakes sleepers with a gentle motion instead of a shocking noise.
David Long, executive vice president of innovation and marketing for King Koil, sees this introduction as an opportunity to continue the company’s growth in the luxury segment of the industry with a truly unique product offering. “In this ever-changing retail bedding market, we are confident Smartlife Mattress by King Koil will help drive traffic into our retail partners stores,” he said. “With Smartlife Mattress by King Koil, we are going beyond the normal luxury mattress components and really innovating with cutting-edge technology. No one in the industry today is offering the quality materials and technology, together, in one package, as we are doing with Smartlife Mattress by King Koil.”
The iOBED team in the United States is working closely with King Koil to support the new strategic alliance. The group includes industry veterans Scott Shamley, vice president of global sales and Raymond Chung, vice president of global business development.
“iOBED global headquarters in South Korea and our U.S. team are excited to support King Koil and lead the mattress industry into the future of sleep,” said Scott Smalling, executive vice president of global sales and marketing for iOBED.
iOBED technology was the winner of the Best New Product of the Year award at the most recent Korean Electronic Show (KES) in Seoul, South Korea.
King Koil will have worldwide rights to manufacture and distribute Smartlife Mattress by King Koil except in South Korea where the company is based.
The new lineup will be showcased in both the King Koil (A-538) and iOBED (B-230) showrooms in Las Vegas.
