ASID Foundation Bestows 7 Scholarship and Grant Awards

The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) recently announced the recipients of the 2019 ASID Foundation Scholarship and Grant Awards. Presented to those pursuing projects that explore how interior design directly affects the well-being, health, and behavior of occupants within a space, the ASID Foundation’s annual scholarships and grants support research and expand public knowledge of the impact of design.
The ASID Foundation actively provides funding and support for innovative initiatives that align with the Society’s “design impacts lives” mission. Through a variety of scholarships, awards, and grants, the Foundation recognizes those who are developing and strengthening the design industry.
“We are honored to provide these opportunities to those leading the charge within the design industry to proactively build a better world for all,” said Randy Fiser, ASID CEO. “We look forward to seeing how our 2019 recipients continue to improve and impact the human experience and the design profession.”
The Irene Winifred Eno Grant provides financial assistance to individuals or groups developing an education program or project that is dedicated to health, safety and welfare, and was awarded to Helen Turner, assistant professor, School of Interiors, University of Kentucky, and Stephanie Sickler, assistant professor and foundations coordinator, Department of Interior Architecture and Design, Florida State University.
The Joel Polsky Academic Achievement Award recognizes an outstanding interior design research project or thesis project conducted by an undergraduate or graduate student and was awarded to Laura Harris, master of fine arts in interior design, Brenau University. Honorable mention was awarded to Amanda Grace Hunter, intern/graduate student, Peace Design/SCAD Atlanta.
The Joel Polsky Prize recognizes outstanding academic contributions to interior design through print or digital communication and was awarded to Beth McGee, Ph.D, Allied ASID assistant professor/program coordinator for interior design, Georgia Southern University.
The ASID Foundation Legacy Scholarship for Undergraduate Students is awarded on the basis of academic accomplishment, creative achievement, and personal statement and was awarded to Seammala Sun, student ASID graduate, master of interior architecture, Cal Poly Pomona.
The ASID Foundation Legacy Scholarship for Graduate Students is awarded on the basis of academic accomplishment, creative achievement, and personal statement and was awarded to Emily Rayna Shaw, undergraduate student, bachelor of fine arts in interior design, Endicott College.
