The Canadian Furniture Show Kicks-off on Friday

The Canadian Furniture Show begins this Friday, May 24 to Sunday, May 26 and will again be held at The International Centre, in Toronto. This year is the 47th edition of the event which puts the limelight on everything that is new in the furniture industry, in Canada and internationally.

“Our visitors want to discover the new trends and products being shown by top-notch exhibitors,” remarked Tony Melis, Show Director. “The 2019 Show draws on the excellence of its many exhibitors, including nearly 40 new ones, that come from all over the world to showcase their best products to the thousands of visitors attending the event.”

The Trend Showcase is back again this year in Hall 2, and it will feature a selection of innovative products and trends being offered by the exhibitors, and they will be handpicked by Linda Mazur of the Linda Mazur Design Group. The esteemed designer, who specializes in residential design and is a columnist for the Toronto Sun and Condo Life Magazine, selects items that represent the latest trends, based on their materials, fabrics and colors.

“This year, the Canadian Home Furnishings Alliance will be staging its annual prize-awarding gala at the International Centre on the first night of the Show, on Friday, May 24,” said Marie-Eve Boucher, communications director of the Canadian Furniture Show. “We are pleased to invite all the participants to a major industry cocktail reception prior to the event. The cocktail gathering will provide a nice opportunity for some productive meetings, and will feature Canada’s national drink: the Caesar.”

The Best Booth Awards are returning after success at last year’s show. The awards recognize the efforts expended by some of the exhibitors to create an exceptional booth. A four-panel jury of furniture industry professionals will evaluate all of the booths to determine the award winners. The jury is composed of: Maureen Weigen-Liebovitz, an acclaimed designer who has a life-long passion for color and textiles; Lindsey Foster von Kalben, a specialist in creating beautiful and functional spaces; Sharon MacIntosh, an accredited decorator who is the principal of her own company; and Lauren Kosowan, a designer known for a style that reflects timelessness, personality and functionality. The award winners will be announced on Friday, May 24.
