Sleep product manufacturer Soft-Tex International has announced the expansion of its distribution facility in South Carolina and named Gary Semon as its new warehouse manager.
The company’s presence in South Carolina has expanded nearly ten-fold since opening operations in the Charleston area to establish a warehouse and distribution center supported by the efficiencies offered through the South Carolina Ports Authority system. The small 25,000 square foot space Soft-Tex occupied in 2013 has grown to now occupy all 236,843 square feet of its current warehouse adding more than 60% of the 145,000 square feet in the building which Soft-Tex previously occupied.
The expansion is due to increased demand for Soft-Tex products in the retail marketplace as well as an investment in the company's Vendor Direct division which supports lines of business where product is fulfilled by Soft-Tex and shipped directly to the end consumer on behalf of one of the company's retail partners like Macy's, JCPenney, Bed Bath and Beyond, Kohl's, Amazon, Wayfair, Overstock, Walmart.com, Belk, and Groupon.
"The expansion at our South Carolina warehouse and distribution facility will allow us to be more agile in responding to changes in customer demand and other market factors while further enhancing our best-in-class fulfillment service to our retail partners, especially those who leverage our Vendor Direct programs," said Jeff Chilton, CEO.
As part of its Vendor Direct program, Soft-Tex is offering an assortment of hundreds of in-stock SKUs across all available bedding lines and mattresses, accuracy and fulfillment times, and 100% recycled corrugated packaging.
Semon began his role as the South Carolina Warehouse and Distribution Center Manager in February. He joins Soft-Tex with a wealth of experience in multiple domains most recently having served as the Operations Manager for Kontane Logistics and previously as an Inventory Control Manager for Dollar General.
