Mattress producer Eclipse International has announced the expansion of its Van Vorst lineup with a larger brand presentation this summer in Las Vegas.
The resurgence of Van Vorst, once a staple in the high-end bedding market, is through a partnership between Eclipse and West Coast producer Blue Ocean Sleep.
The three innerspring mattresses target the growing affordable luxury segment of the bedding market and are priced to retail between $1,499 and $2,499.
“Our new Van Vorst designs generated great reaction from retailers previewing the line and are eager to see additional models. With the designs we’ve developed, and the ones coming this summer, Van Vorst is back and will be a strong addition to the marketplace,” said Stuart Carlitz, CEO. “It’s positioned above our Eclipse and Eastman House brands, but below our all-latex Pure Talalay Bliss line, and features our patented foam technology that conforms and supports the body much like latex.”
The proprietary foam, called Surface Modified Technology (SMT), cushions the individually wrapped coils with 3-inch by 3-inch foam squares – a design that conforms to the body and eliminates the need for edge support.
The SMT foam is found in all three Van Vorst models, which retail for $1,499, $1,799 and $2,499 in queen. The top two models feature a layer of copper-infused latex, and the $2,499 model has a second layer of latex. In addition, the top two models feature New Zealand wool in the quilting layer.
The Van Vorst line has a rich history dating back to its 1888 founding in Los Angeles. The company grew into a reliable source of private-label mattresses for well-known retailers including Bloomingdale’s, The Bon Marche, Meier & Frank and more. Eclipse is marketing the new beds under the Van Vorst Mattress Co. of America since 1888 label.
