Salone Shines Spotlight on Innovative International Design

The 58th edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano has officially ended on a high note. This year, the fair hosted 386,236 visitors (a 12% increase from 2017), from 181 different countries.
2,418 exhibitors from 43 countries were split among the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, Euroluce, Workplace3.0, and the first-ever S.Project, including the 550 designers under 35 who participated in SaloneSatellite.
“We are closing this edition of the Salone del Mobile with a very positive feeling,” said Salone del Mobile President Claudio Luti. “We invested in quality and have demonstrated once again our desire to do even better, working closely with designers, artisans, and communication and cultural professionals to keep on producing product and process innovations and ‘narratives’ that serve to boost the value of design objects.”
Recognition of the importance of the Salone del Mobile and the furnishings sector also came from the presence of high-ranking government and institutional figures, proof of the Salone’s standing as one of the drivers of the Italian economy.
The show also honored da Vinci with the immersive DE-SIGNO. The Art of Italian Design Before and After Leonardo installation at the fair and AQUA. Leonardo's Water Vision in the city proper.
Salone del Mobile.Milano also presented a Special Lifetime Award to Mario Bellini, the innovative Milanese designer whose furnishings and objects have become revolutionary icons. The award honors his creativity and talent and serves as a thank you for his huge contribution to Salone del Mobile through his collaboration with so many exhibiting companies over the years.
