Tupelo, Miss.-based Regional Rehabilitation Center will honor furniture industry veteran Hassell Franklin with its fifth annual Red Rasberry Humanitarian Award on April 23 at the Tupelo Summit Center, according to a report from the Daily Journal.
Franklin, CEO of motion upholstery supplier Franklin Corporation, has helped guide local corporations, economic development, education and philanthropy in the Tupelo area. He has served on a number of boards including BancorpSouth, North Mississippi Health Services, Create Foundation, Commission on the Future of Northeast Mississippi and Mississippi State University.
“He’s been a long-time supporter of Regional Rehab,” which serves hundreds of children and adults each year without charge, said Kay Mathews, RRC retired executive director and award dinner chairwoman. “He was particularly helpful in getting the dyslexia department up and going.”
