HFA Announces Event Schedule for Spring High Point Market

The Home Furnishings Association (HFA) has announced its slate of programs for furniture retailers during the upcoming Spring High Point Market.

Events include 15 seminars in the Association's Resource Center on the first floor of Plaza Suites, 222 S. Main Street. Industry expert Jerry Epperson of Mann, Armistead & Epperson highlights the schedule. He’ll speak about “Keeping up with the Industry and Consumer Trends” from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 7.

“We’re delighted to again present Jerry’s update on everything new in the furniture business,” Sharron Bradley, CEO, HFA. “His seminars are popular because they’re informative and relevant. And so are all our other programs. We expect this to be an excellent, well-attended market, and the Association is here to help our members achieve and build on success.”

Seminars run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 6, through Monday, April 8. Each will be led by an expert with something to offer furniture retailers: How to build relationships with customers before they visit your store; How to make your online store as inviting as your showroom; How to understand what consumers are thinking and create the right shopping experience for them; How to improve the effectiveness of your youngest employees; and How to produce better results from your advertising.

The Resource Center also provides space to more than 30 vendors offering business solutions for furniture retailers, including Synchrony Financial and some first-time exhibitors, such as transportation and delivery giant J.B. Hunt.

Association events include its Next Generation Now “Showroom Crawl” beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 6, and Lunch with Leaders, featuring Seth Weisblatt, former owner of Sam’s Furniture and Appliances in Fort Worth, Texas. Lunch with Leaders is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, April 8.

The Resource Center’s “soft opening” is at noon on Friday, April 5. Each day from Saturday through Tuesday:
•    An Exhibitor/Retailer breakfast is available from 7:30 to 9 a.m.;
•    The Best Barista Bar @ Market is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.;
•    An Exhibitor/Retailer lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.; and
•    Happy Hour is 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition, the April issue of the Association's magazine, Retailer NOW, will be available for free in the Resource Center and throughout the market. Association staff will be in the Resource Center to assist members and other retailers interested in joining the association.

“We know that a lot of work gets done at market, but we also want to provide opportunities for education, networking, fun and fellowship,” Bradley said. “Our Resource Center is just that – a resource for our members and our industry. It puts in one place many of the benefits available through the association. We hope to see all of our old friends there, and to make new friends.”
