Mill Collective Announces High Point Market Programming

Multi-exhibitor showroom Mill Collective announces new programming for its Mill Collective Talks series during the upcoming High Point Market, April 6 – 10, located in the lower level of Plant Seven at 410 W. English Rd.

On Sat., April 6, from 11a.m. to 12 p.m., Malene B., founder of the Black Artists + Designers Guild (BADG), curator Leyden Lewis, and designer Jomo Tariku sit down with Steven Mandel, publisher of Aspire Design and Home, to discuss “Beyond the Mask: Storytelling in Black Art + Design,” the first BADG gallery exhibition in High Point, open at Plant Seven April 6  - September 30.

Also on Saturday, from 4 to 5 p.m., a panel discussion entitled “Collaborative Community Design FTW” points to rising demand for social and community destinations in cities across the country, marking the creation of new opportunities for interior designers, and new ways of working with custom furnishings resources.

To illustrate, the panelists - including New York-based interior designer Everick Brown; maker-producers Matt Booty of Enkle Designs and Jeremy Pyles CEO and Creative Director of Niche, also Mill Collective exhibitors - take the audience behind the scenes on a recent project collaboration for NŌ Studios, Milwaukee’s modern-day beaux arts clubhouse founded by Oscar-winning screenwriter John Ridley (12 Years a Slave and American Crime), as a fresh example of the growing resimercial trend.

A reception follows the Saturday afternoon event.

On Sun., Apr. 7, from 10 to 11 a.m., intuitive business advisor and noted international keynote speaker, Gretchen Jones brings her signature “Altruism by Design” methodology for creative professionals to High Point Market for her Mill Collective Talk. Jones - who most recently presented at the US Chamber of Commerce’s 2019 Leadership Summit and at this year’s SXSW event in Austin - shares why and how to align personal values in the business environment through the lens of holistic sustainability.

Her work has been featured in Business of Fashion, WWD, The New York Times, Style.com, Refinery29, Elle, and Glamour. Along with induction into GenArt’s ‘Fresh Faces in Fashion’, she is known for winning season eight of Project Runway.

“Our mission for Mill Collective Talks is to support High Point Market attendees with information they can’t find elsewhere,” says Tim Branscome, CEO, Plant Seven. “Under the Plant Seven umbrella, we’re committed to a new perspective for our industry during and in between the trade shows.”
