TrendWatch Unveils Top 3 Trends for Spring HP Market

TrendWatch, the International Market Center’s exclusive trend forecast program, will feature three themes – Ore, Max and Charge – for Spring High Point Market.

The signature program offers marketgoers an inside look at leading trends in the home furnishings industry through an opening day seminar and three on-site trend displays.

“TrendWatch is key for companies looking to identify the trends that ultimately will impact sales and consumer preferences in the home furnishings industry,” said Dorothy Belshaw, EVP, chief marketing and digital officer for International Market Centers. “We’ll bring the trends to life through carefully-curated displays featuring more than 110 products from nearly 60 exhibitors, which highlights the breadth and depth of on-trend product that High Point Market has to offer.”

TrendWatch is curated by 23-year magazine editor and home furnishings forecaster Julie Smith Vincenti of Nine Muses Media. The trends are influenced by consumer insights and creative intelligence from the interiors, fashion and consumer product arenas.

The three trends identified for Spring 2019 TrendWatch:

Ore: Ore is the modern way to present metallic finishes — monochromatically — and TrendWatch showcases the idea in a vignette that’s been color drenched. It’s “big city chic,” done up in warm hues and illustrated with ample artistry. Product selections and highlighted brands will include: Ping Pong Dining Table from Austin Allen James; Klein Side Table in brass from Bungalow 5; "Nouveau Geo” Wall Decor from Celadon Art; Blossom Starburst Chandelier from Hammerton Studio and Midnight Magma Pillow from Jill Seale.

Max: Maximalism continues to captivate homeowners who seek to create interiors that are expressive, adventurous and colorful. TrendWatch taps an eco-aware color palette to express the mindset, which celebrates living fully and decorating confidently. Highlighted exhibitors and products include: Sea Mist Area Rug from Company C; Polaris Area Rug from Jaipur Living; Outdoor Pillows from Nourison; “Coco and Denim” Wall Decor from RFA Decor and Stella Sofa from Sylvester Alexander.

Charge: TrendWatch creates a dream “docking station” for plugged-in kids and tweens in Charge. “Electric” and bright colors; simple styling; cool and clever accessories; and ample technology smarts are at the fore. Highlighted exhibitors and products include: Bronson Metal Bed from Amisco; UFO by Pemberley Pond; Pendant Lights from Creative Cables; Gravy Wall sconce from Koncept; Assorted Pillows from ModShop and Carry Lamp by Seed Design.

All products selected by Vincenti are from IMC High Point Market exhibitors and will be featured in vignettes located at the walkway between IHFC and Showplace near the transportation terminal, in the IHFC Green Lobby and in the Suites at Market Square lobby.

The products also will be featured in an at-Market publication. Printed copies of the publication are available at the opening day seminar and digital copies can be accessed after scanning a QR code from any of the displays. Additionally, Vincenti will host a TrendWatch: Spring 2019 seminar from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, in the Suites at Market Square Seminar Room (SAMS-T-1014) that details the three trends and their impact on the home furnishings market in the future.
