Company C Commemorates 25 Years

Company C, an award-winning New Hampshire-based design and manufacturing company, celebrates 25 years of colorful living, marking the anniversary with a champagne toast in the company’s showroom at Las Vegas Market, Jan. 28 at 4:30 p.m. in Bldg. A, Space 225.

With a shared entrepreneurial spirit, Walter and Christine Chapin founded Company C in 1994 from their home office and garage with the goal of building an organization known for design leadership. Following the mantra, “live your dreams,” they listened to the market that, at the time, was calling out for colorful, inspiring home furnishings.

The company is led by the original founders and has maintained its private ownership. What started out as a private label venture working with catalog companies, has grown to a multichannel business serving wholesale and consumer markets.

Company C partners with a network of more than 2,500 brick and mortar retailers, interior designers, and ecommerce sites. There are two direct-to-consumer stores, a flagship store in Concord, New Hampshire and one in Portland, Maine. Company C also operates its own ecommerce site.

The product portfolio continues to expand and features exclusive rugs, bed & bath, fabric, accents and furniture through its partnership with Norwalk Furniture.

World citizenship is important to Company C, and as such, the company maintains its 13-year relationship with GoodWeave, the humanitarian organization dedicated to improving working conditions in weaving communities and fighting illegal child labor. Each year a portion of rug sales that carry the GoodWeave label is donated to this effort.

Company C is also a proud member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, devoting time and resources to ensure that its products are made as environmentally friendly as possible – and that on a corporate level, the organization is using resources wisely.

“This has been the fastest and most interesting 25 years of my life. We started out with a dream and a vision to share the joys of colorful living with the world through our textiles,” said Christine Chapin. “No one could have predicted the design industry during the past two-and-a-half decades. It has been an incredible journey. I’m looking forward to going bold as we continue to excite the market each season by offering fresh designs through our collections – Company C, Colorfields, and ColorSpree.”

Walter Chapin added, “Our philosophy of listening to the customer, delivering a quality product and providing excellent service have all remained top priorities. Because of that our company continues to grow and adapt to market changes. A big thank you to our valued customers, partners, and employees for making this happen.”
