Tricots Liesse Partners with Tencel for Mattress Ticking Line

Montreal, Canada-based Tricots Liesse, has announced a joint venture with Lenzing’s Tencel branded lyocell fibers, to develop a collection of mattress ticking featuring unique designs for the mattress industry.

It is the first time Tencel fibers will be co-branded with another company and the products will bear the new Tencel “Feels so Right” logo.

The three-fabric, branded collection offers naturally cooling properties, a sustainability story and fashion-forward fabrics giving manufacturers the ability to elevate the look, feel and consumer appeal of mattresses. The three new fabrics, expand the company’s Tencel line to 16 designs. One of the three new designs is crafted of 100 percent Tencel fibers while the other two feature blended fibers.

Tricots Liesse, best known for its extensive work in the fashion industry with brands like Eileen Fisher, Lulu Lemon, Helmut Lang and Elie Tahari entered the mattress industry last year. Since its expansion into the home furnishings arena, the company has partnered with several of the top-tier mattress brands.

“We are honored that Lenzing chose to partner with us to bring these exciting new Tencel branded products to market. Our heritage in the fashion industry put a unique touch on these products and represents a historic partnership for its innovative brand,” said Camilla Franklin, vice president of sales and marketing for mattress and sleep fabrics at Tricots Liesse. “Our strategy has always been the same – be the first in North America in design and technical advancement in textiles. We’re looking to advance that strategy in the mattress and sleep fabrics segment. Our new partnership with Tencel is key to our growth in the category.”

The fibers of Tencel Lyocell yarn are spun from the cellulose of trees making the product to absorb moisture more efficiently to create a drier, cool-to-the-touch feel for a comfortable night’s sleep.

In addition to the Tencel brand lineup, Tricots Liesse offers a number of ticking designs with advanced fibers and finishes, including phase-change materials, organic cotton, Q10, copper, cashmere, hemp, bamboo, linen and anti-microbial properties.
