The American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations for its induction class. All members of the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation are eligible to submit and second nominations, which are due Feb. 1.
To qualify for consideration, the individual must conduct business in the United States, have served in the industry for at least 15 years, have created a legacy as a positive influence and champion of the industry, and should have achieved the pinnacle of their careers and be at least 60 years old.
For posthumous nominations, the individual must have been deceased for at least 12 months prior to the date of the nomination.
“There is no higher honor than induction into the Hall of Fame. This is your opportunity as a foundation member to nominate someone that you believe is worthy, no matter their role in the industry,” said Jeff Child, president of the foundation. “The Selection Committee is looking for input into those individuals who demonstrate continuing excellence and who have made contributions that have changed the industry.”
To submit a nomination, a re-nomination or a posthumous nomination, foundation members are required to complete the nomination form found on the website at www.homefurnishingshalloffame.com. A print or a 300 dpi digital photo of the candidate must be enclosed. All nominations must be seconded, in writing, by another foundation member.
The completed nomination package must be postmarked no later than Feb. 1 and sent to American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc., 202 Neal Place, Suite 101, High Point, N.C. 27262.
Members may also obtain printed copies of the documents by calling 336.882.5900.
During an intensive five-month selection process, the Hall of Fame Selection Committee carefully considers an extensive list of individuals to determine who most exemplifies enduring excellence, superior accomplishments, innovation and creativity, and philanthropic generosity of their time, talents and resources. The final selection is determined by a points-based system, with ballots cast individually and online by each of the seven selection committee members. The ballots are received and verified by the foundation’s accounting firm, Sharrard McGee.
New inductees will be honored at the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Induction Celebration on Oct. 20 during the Fall High Point Market.
