Pier 1 Partners with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Wounded Warrior Project

Home furnishings resource Pier 1 Imports, Inc. (NYSE:PIR) has announced two new philanthropic partnerships with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Wounded Warrior Project.

Pier 1 will begin this effort by supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital this month and layer on Wounded Warrior Project early next year.

“Pier 1 is committed to partnering with like-minded organizations who are making an impact within their communities,” said Kelly Cook, executive vp of marketing and chief marketing officer at Pier 1. “We want to ensure that our customers can shop their favorite products with the added benefit of donating to a cause that helps others, whether that be defeating childhood cancer or giving to those who have so bravely served our country.”

The company will join the annual St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign, a union of celebrities, media, and more than 60 of the nation’s leading brands and companies that ask consumers to donate while they shop during the holiday season to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude.

Beginning this month, Pier 1 will encourage consumers to contribute to the cause through point of sale donations to benefit the renowned children’s research hospital. Funds raised are critical given that no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

Pier 1 will expand its philanthropy program through a partnership with Wounded Warrior Project in early 2019, launching a “Her in Every Hero” campaign that tells the stories of female warriors, family support members and caregivers. Wounded Warrior Project is transforming the way America’s injured veterans are empowered, employed and engaged in our communities. Warriors never pay a penny for WWP programs – because they paid their dues on the battlefield.
