Durham Adds Modern Touch: Odyssey Collection to Launch in HP

Solid wood resource Durham Furniture will launch the Odyssey bedroom and occasional furniture collection at next month’s High Point Market, in IHFC space G-1082. Constructed of solid clean maple, the 14-piece collection features recessed steel bases in a matte black finish and matte black hardware. It will be shown in several of the company’s 50 available finishes to demonstrate the variety of looks that can be achieved by the custom finishing techniques Durham is known for in the industry.

“Our newest collection has a retro feel to it, but we gave it a modern edge by combining wood and metal,” said Luke Simpson, president and CEO of Durham Furniture. “These fresh, European-inspired designs add punch to our product repertoire and give consumers the opportunity to create the exact look they want through the use of our custom finishes.”

In High Point, the custom finish offerings will include a natural finish with no pigment – just sealer and lacquer – which highlights the natural beauty of the solid maple and puts the spotlight on the modern design elements that are new to the Durham line.

The Odyssey Collection offers a pair of panel beds – one utilizing wood panels and a second featuring an upholstered panel.

The standout Dressing Chest has three graduated drawers  and a door storage compartment with an adjustable shelf above two wider bottom drawers.  The Lingerie Chest has a similar design, and includes a door storage compartment with an adjustable shelf.  The recessed steel bases and refined scaling of the case pieces allow for versatile placement to create multiple configurations to suit the needs of the consumer. Most case pieces in the collection have soft-close drawers and cedar-lined bottom drawers.

The five-piece occasional lineup, scaled for a larger room utilizes the same metal base as the collection’s bedroom case pieces, is headlined by a Cocktail Table with an octagonal top, two storage drawers and an open lower shelf.

Other occasional pieces include a Rectangular Cocktail Table with one drawer, a Square End Table with an open shelf and beveled face frames on both sides, a Rectangular End Table with similar features and a 45-inch multi-functional Console Table that can house media components and accommodate a flat screen TV or be used as a sofa table or display piece.
