The assortment was designed to support the rise in consumer demand for refined styling, flexible seating options and a more eclectic approach to decorating. Each silhouette is available as part of the company’s domestic warehouse program or by direct container.
“Over the past several markets, we’ve been tracking a shift in consumer style preferences,” said Joelle Kuhlman, vice president. “The days of selling a complete upholstery group to one consumer are falling quickly behind us, as we are seeing a shift towards a more eclectic and flexible approach to decorating.
“High-styled motion with braided leather welts, laced leather trims, stationary-inspired designs and adaptable modular seating are transforming this category into modernized motion for Hooker Upholstery,” Kuhlman continued.
“Together, our assortment of trendy club chairs, stylish recliners, niche leather stationary and modernized motion provide consumers with a way to put their personalities into their homes, which is a trend that is driving the marketplace,” she added. “This market, we are prepared to provide our retail partners with upholstery silhouettes to support this undeniable style shift.”
Covered in top grain leathers, motion introductions include five new sofa groups with refined styling to appeal to the more design-oriented consumer and three modular sectionals, which provide flexibility for various room sizes and configurations. Highlights include the Savion Power Motion Sectional, which offers classic styling with the hidden benefit of motion functionality in each piece, including power headrests in the corner wedge. Shown in a taupe wipe-off leather, it is based off the best-selling Savion Motion Sofa from the April 2018 Market.
Stationary introductions include several “conversation sofas” with angular and curved silhouettes with design elements that include metal bases, updated arm styles and quilted details and welts. New leather color choices include burnt sienna and a variety of blue hues. Highlights of the seven stationary frames include the Navarro, a transitionally-styled silhouette with uniquely shaped arms. It is characterized by its distinctive quilted upholstery technique on the back and seat cushions.
In the club and accent chair category, 18 new chairs will make their debut. The updated assortment features a variety of unique metal bases and arms as well as several sling chair styles and barrel-styled swivel chairs.
“Covered in trendy color combinations and a variety of hair on hide upholstery applications, our accent chair category really provides consumers with an opportunity to add character to their homes,” said Kuhlman.
Combining style with comfort, accent pieces include the Basey Club Chair, with its contoured back, nail head trim and soft navy top grain leather and the Ambroise Metal Base Accent Chair featuring an industrial edge with its streamlined metal base and folded arm style.
Recliner designs mimic the style direction of the motion upholstery category, with slimmer, sleeker, and tailored styles that provide a solution for consumers who are looking for reclining functionality without the look of a typical recliner. Design details include shapely arms, metal legs, new wood trims and updated top grain leathers in trending colors such as silver and blue. Highlighting the 15 new recliner styles is the Melton Power Recliner. Its dark wood arm panels offer a contrast to the blue top grain leather.
In addition, the company is also adding seven new executive home office chairs. Highlights include the Tycoon, which features a chrome metal base design with a vertically channeled back in a blue-grey hue.
