Sam Moore to Launch 40 New Products at Fall Market

Sam Moore, a subsidiary of Hooker Furniture (NASDAQ: HOFT), will unveil more than 40 products at the October High Point Market.

The launch includes the company’s first upholstered beds, slipcovered sofas, upholstered console tables as well as eight new seating pieces with exposed wood frames that showcase Sam Moore’s premium hand-finishing capabilities.

Two upholstered bed styles, featuring horizontal and vertical channel designs, are customizable in an assortment of fabrics and a variety of finish and nail head offerings. Beds are available in 52-, 54-, 62- and a new 72-inch height, designed to accommodate taller ceilings and add drama to a room.

The slipcovered category debut features two seating groups the Dani, which features track arms and exposed legs and the Tallula, which has a classic slipcovered arm and skirt to the floor style. The Audrey wing chair and the Emerson slipcovered swivel chair round out the assortment.

“We’re venturing into some new categories, which will allow us to become a more important resource to our dealers by offering them a broader product lineup,” said Frank Richardson, president of Sam Moore. “It also gives us more opportunities to feature our exposed wood finishing capabilities and truly spotlight what Sam Moore does best – great design, intricate, multi-step hand finishes and on-trend fabric offerings.”

Other new categories for Sam Moore are the addition of power mechanisms to selected press-back recliners, and the company’s first fully upholstered console tables that are customizable in a variety of performance fabrics. Available in two different lengths, the multifunctional consoles work well in living spaces with ottomans bunched underneath for additional seating and can also serve double duty as writing desks.

In addition, the company is adding twin sleepers with upgraded gel foam mattresses to two new chair-and-a-half styles the Resa with updated traditional styling and the more modern casual-styled Ridley.

“We’re seeing a resurgence of interest in the chair-and-a-half concept, and the addition of a sleeper allows us to address vacation homes and other markets that we are not in today,” said Richardson.

The popular exposed wood frame lineup is being expanded with five new chairs, a new sofa and recliner, and a motion chaise. One of the new chairs, Arrow, features an exposed wood arm with a customizable sling-style fabric wrap, and another, Jordy, also features the sling concept and is available in five colors.

“The sling concept has broad appeal – from interior designers to traditional retailers to larger national accounts,” said Richardson. “It’s a very fashion-forward look that adds excitement to any retail floor.”

Other High Point introductions include two recliners, four swivel chairs, a power chaise, and the Maisie rocking chair with cottage farmhouse styling that is suitable for any room in the home, including nurseries.
