5th & Home, New Member of Furniture First

National furniture and mattress buying group Furniture First and its Board of Directors has approved 5th & Home as a new member.
5th & Home is a new retail identity for the 96-year-old business that has operated as Stimson Furniture and Ashley Homestore in Victoria, Texas.
The Stimson family started selling furniture in Kenedy, Texas in 1922 and over time grew to several locations in South Texas. In 2005 the Victoria and Yoakum stores were converted to Ashley Homestores and the other locations were sold as the business responded to changes in the market and the furniture industry. Eventually, operations were consolidated to the current Victoria location, featuring an outlet in addition to the Ashley Homestore.
Closure of the outlet was announced in June of this year, paving the way for the current re-branding and re-merchandising efforts. Current owners Paige and Ben Streiff are the fifth generation of the family to operate the furniture stores.

We have members who have done the same thing in other markets - they can give them some tips and warn them about things to watch out for too. It’s that information sharing between members that makes our group unique.”
