Modern furniture and accessories retailer Design Within Reach (DWR) has announced its return to Manhattan's Upper West Side with a 6,500-square-foot ground-floor retail space slated to open in early 2019.
The new location on Broadway between 76th and 77th streets has a larger footprint than the company's previous Upper West Side Studio, which closed in 2015.
"We're excited to return to Manhattan's Upper West Side," says John McPhee, president. "We have a prime location on Broadway that has significant foot traffic and at three times the size of our previous location will better serve the modern design fans who live in the neighborhood."
The new studio will be a destination for design enthusiasts to discover new DWR product developed exclusively with international design talent like Afteroom, Note Design Studio and Norm Architects as well as New York-based designers Hlynur Atlason, Pat Kim and Egg Collective, alongside modern classics by Charles and Ray Eames and Eero Saarinen.
The location will also offer complimentary design services, designed to help clients create a home that reflects their NYC lifestyle, with design consultations, in-home measuring and 3-D renderings.
DWR continues its partnership with New York-based architecture firm DFA to bring the studio to life, which includes exposing the vaulted ceiling discovered during an initial walkthrough of the space. James Ritman and Nick Marona of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank are representing the company's retail expansion efforts.
