Impact Consulting Reports New Residential Construction Decline

The furniture industry, which is heavily influenced by the ups and downs of the housing market, may have temporarily turned a blind eye to the poor economic news released this week on new housing construction.
Data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development shows housing starts down 12.3 percent, building permits down 2.2 percent, and housing completions flat from May to June.
