Aaron's, Inc. (NYSE: AAN), and its divisions Aaron's and Progressive Leasing, surprised two single-parent families with fully furnished new homes in Atlanta.
Hasna Hussien and Zulfa Jobir and their children received homes full of new furniture as part of the Homes for the Holidays program sponsored by former NFL star Warrick Dunn.
Hussien's home was the 160th and Jobir's home was the 161st home presentations by Warrick Dunn Charities' (WDC) Homes for the Holidays program, which assists single parents in becoming first-time homeowners.
In partnership with Aaron's and Habitat for Humanity affiliates, WDC provides the materials necessary for long-term stability and the provisions required to make a meaningful impact on the parents and their families. Hussien, Jobir, and their families were accepted into the Gwinnett Habitat for Humanity program and have worked with the organization over the past six months to build their homes in partnership with Gwinnett Habitat volunteers.
Originally from Egypt, Hasna Hussien sought refuge in the United States after the loss of her husband. Hansa and her three children lived in a basement until they were able to afford a place of their own and then lived in a one-bedroom apartment before being accepted into the Gwinnett Habitat program. Hussien is incredibly grateful for this opportunity as it allows her to achieve her one mission in life, "To be able to afford the best I can for my family."
Ethiopia native Zulfa Jobir is a single mother of three boys and works for the Gwinnett County School System as a school bus driver. Jobir works hard to provide for her three sons; this gift will allow her family to thrive in a new and comfortable living space.
Aaron's has been a longtime supporter of WDC initiatives and began contributing home furnishings, appliances, and electronics to the Homes for the Holidays program in 2003. Warrick Dunn Charities was founded in 2002 by former NFL star Warrick Dunn.
"Aaron's is thrilled to be working alongside Warrick Dunn and Gwinnett Habitat for Humanity to provide the furnishings for their entire homes to these single moms who've worked so hard to build a good life for their children," said John Robinson, CEO of Aaron's, Inc. "We're so pleased to be able to surprise these families with beautifully furnished rooms to help make their homes truly their own."
