Gold Bond’s New Cambridge Mattress Mimics Hybrid Feel

Gold Bond Mattress’ new Cambridge mattress is cushioned with 40 pounds of cotton in full size and 50 pounds in queen size from the company’s in-house garneting operation.

In an industry in which foam and hybrid mattresses are all the rage, Gold Bond developed the Cambridge to combat rising foam costs and give retailers a quality mattress that also features a 7-inch Bonnell innerspring unit, a staple of mattress manufacturing for decades.

The mattress is gaining momentum in the marketplace for its quality, comfort, and price.

“The Cambridge is a well-built mattress that helps retailers stave off the impact increasing foam costs are having on margins,” said Robert Naboicheck, president of Gold Bond Mattress. “Across the industry, continuing foam increases are forcing people to either raise prices or de-spec their products. We’ll never de-spec our line, but instead, we’ve decided to take leverage our competitive advantage by processing our own cotton for our products. The Cambridge is packed with cotton.”

Twenty pounds of cotton flank each side of the 416-coil spring unit offering a natural cushion, as well as fire-retardant barrier. The mattress is finished with lace-tufting on a white ticking and features a charcoal gray border. The tufting provides the bed with a taut finish and classic look.

“It’s a mattress that really needs to be experienced,” he said. “It’s a hefty mattress and offers consumers a natural, cotton story, which continues to resonate in the marketplace.”

The Cambridge is retailing at $499-599 in a queen with a foundation, and twin sets are priced to retail from $299-349.
