Capel Summer Market Intros Focus on Texture

Texture will play a leading role in the Capel Rugs showroom at the summer markets in Atlanta and Las Vegas as the rug source introduces three new collections with a plush hi-lo feel.

Leading the way, Cambria is a timeless transitional collection of differing designs with rich, monochromatic colorways and intricate detailing. Made in India of a viscose-wool blend, Cambria features a double back, hand-loomed construction with subtly layered hues, overtufted details and a hi-lo pile. Four colorways and various sizes are available. A 5' x 8' rug may retail for $1,149.

"Cambria has an elegant, fresh transitional spirit that makes it very adaptable to a wide range of room settings," said Cameron Capel, president—sales and marketing for Capel Rugs. "It also has a fabulous price, which adds to its appeal."

Capel Rugs' second introduction, Dara is a collection of flat woven, 100% undyed wool designs in three neutral colorways.  A 5' x 8' rug may retail for $440. "Dara is a lush, textural design that uses a 'popcorn' stitch to create cool triangle and diamond patterns," Capel said. "We think it will be a big hit at market due to its fashionable design and equally attractive pricing."

Rounding out the latest introductions, Greyson is a contemporary-leaning collection with a thick pile distinguished by repeating geometric patterns and clever combinations of light and dark tones. Made in Egypt of 100% olefin, Greyson features a machine-made, Wilton woven construction with an added artistic carving as a drop stitch for enhanced color separation and definition. Three colorways are available in various sizes. A 5'3" x 7'8" rug may retail for $299.

In addition to these three imported collections, Capel also is expanding its popular program of made-in-the-U.S. rugs with a new braided design called Woodbridge. Available in four colorways, Woodbridge is made of plush polypropylene yarns that are first knitted then braided in a cross-sewn rectangular shape. Durable and easy to care for, Woodbridge also is reversible.

"We are very excited about these fresh looks we'll be introducing in Atlanta and Las Vegas," said Capel. "Texture is so important in today's market, and we'll be featuring loads of texture in this latest round of introductions." Each of the new collections also offers a strong value, Capel said, providing an additional enticement for consumers.

"The economy seems to be rolling along, for the most part, and that's making this another good year for home furnishings," Capel said. "But generating business is never easy, so we want to do everything we can to help our retailers and designers capture more rug sales."

As part of that effort, Capel will be offering a 20% discount on new intros during market if buyers mention the code PRJ18.

At the Atlanta International Area Rug Market, July 10-16, Capel Rugs will be exhibiting in AmericasMart, Space 3-D-1. At the Las Vegas Market, July 29 –Aug. 2, Capel Rugs will exhibit in the World Market Center, Space A-133.
