CPSC’s Anchor It! Campaign Encourages Use of Anchoring Kits

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)’s Anchor It! campaign is recommending consumers secure TVs and furniture to walls in their home with an anchoring kit as part of National Safety Month, observed in June.

The kit is inexpensive and takes just five minutes to install.

National Safety Month focuses on reducing the leading causes of injury and death at work, on the road and in our homes and communities. 

Two-thirds of TV and furniture tip-over fatalities involve toddlers. The campaign targets parents, grandparents and family members in households with young children or homes where young children visit. This is most important for families with toddlers between the ages of 2 to 5, as about 60 percent of child tip-over fatalities involve this age group.
