Johnson City Bedding is Spring Air’s Newest U.S. Licensee

Mattress manufacturer Spring Air International has signed Johnson City Bedding Company of Johnson City, Tenn., as its newest domestic licensee.

Under terms of the agreement, Johnson City Bedding will begin producing the signature Back Supporter and high-end Chattam & Wells lines Sept. 1 for distribution in Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, and Alabama.

Family-owned Johnson City Bedding was founded in 1934.

“This is a key addition to the Spring Air family as we continue to add healthy, independent regional producers to our network of licensees,” said Nick Bates, president of Spring Air. “The Johnson City Bedding team has well-established relationships with retailers throughout their licensing territory, and will be able to immediately capitalize on the strength of the Spring Air brand.”

Bob Parker, president of Johnson City Bedding, said the new agreement gives his company an opportunity to grow its business and boost its average unit selling price.

“Spring Air is a perfect fit for us,” Parker said. “It has great brand recognition among consumers and retailers, and the agreement allows us to sell into some markets where we currently don’t do business.”

Bates said the licensing territory covered by Johnson City Bedding is part of the 26-state territory serviced by Texas-based Corsicana Bedding, whose licensing agreement ends Aug. 31. He said Spring Air expects to sign additional domestic licensees in the coming weeks.

“We’re focusing on like-minded independent manufacturers who share our vision and will take advantage of the full range of products and services we offer,” said Bates.
