Baker Presents Fourth Collection with Leading Designer Laura Kirar

Fine home furnishings distributor Baker has introduced a 28-piece furniture, upholstery, and accessories collection by acclaimed designer Laura Kirar, which includes mirrors, occasional tables, sofas, and armchairs. This is the fourth collection designed by Kirar in collaboration with Baker.

At the heart of each collection are designs informed by Kirar’s research into design and style history, as well as her background in fine arts and crafts. Mexican culture, design and pre-Columbian architecture influence her collections. Clean, simple shapes, and generous proportions are infused with brilliant color, while materials like onyx and cerused oak are used for the casual, yet luxurious style.

“The Laura Kirar Collection for Baker Furniture, her fourth, represents the height of Laura’s creativity and the evolution of her vision for the company,” said Baker president Russell Towner. “Laura Kirar continues to bring glamour and luxury to the Baker brand, infusing it with exotic influences from her world travels. She enriches her work with a sense of design history, but always with a distinctly modern stance. We’re extremely delighted to work with Laura as she explores new realms of design. Her vivid imagination taps the spirit of our times, where a convergence of cultural influences is the ‘new luxury.”

Kirar’s latest pieces for living room, dining room, studies, and hallways are functional and pay homage to ancient Mayan architecture with lower proportions and weighty geometric forms evoking the simple pleasures that define casual luxury.

“This year I love the craftsmanship and lines of the upholstery,” said Kirar. “I’m very happy with the combination of materials, like stone and pale oak. My proportions are versatile and elegant. The constant influence of my global explorations and travel gives my new collection diversity and the richness and character from multiple influences.”
