Fine home furnishings distributor Baker has added six furniture designs to its Stately Homes Collection.
Sir Humphry Wakefield, who founded the collection in 1980, presented the new pieces at last month’s spring High Point Market.
The additions include a King William IV daybed, an Irish baroque side table in the Thomas Chippendale style, Royal German cabinets, and Royal English and Scottish benches, tables, and chairs.
Baker’s Sir Humphry Wakefield is an English baronet, a writer, and authority on English antiques and architecture. He selects crafted furniture that grace the historic and privately owned palaces and castles of the British and Continental nobility. These originals are replicated in Baker studios and workshops, copying directly from the original pieces in their original homes.
“Baker is very proud of our Stately Homes Collection and we are especially happy with our long and notably successful collaboration with Sir Humphry Wakefield, with whom we founded this collection in 1980,” said Russell Towner, president.
“Sir Humphry Wakefield was attracted to Baker because we make furniture of the highest quality, in more styles, more eras, and more periods than any other company in the world. We are proud of our history of specialized craftsmanship. We are especially proud of the rare and refined character of the new Stately Homes Collection pieces for 2018,” added Towner.
In addition to the new introductions, the company re-introduced four pieces from past Stately Homes Collections. These pieces include a King Louis XVI inlaid center table, an Irish baroque demilune, a King George III Sheraton tripod table, and a King William IV etagere.
“With the Baker Stately Homes Collections, I am most of all proud to reproduce and spread sheer beauty to the world. These princes, dukes and duchesses, lords and ladies have these magnificent pieces and appreciate their glory,” said Wakefield, “but far more important than ownership by a few is Baker Stately Homes Collections spreading that beauty worldwide. Like putting a great musician on disc.”
