The CEU-eligible breakfast and presentation was hosted in conjunction with the Interior Design Society and Sherwin-Williams. Attendees learned how to find paints and coatings that are certified as environmentally friendly by organizations such as UL and Greenguard and discussed strategies for incorporating more natural design elements into their work.
Sabina Jahic, Sherwin-Williams design marketing manager for the southeast region, began the discussion highlighting the advantage of using water-based paints as a way to lower emissions of harmful chemicals and improve indoor air quality by reducing mold, mildew and disease-causing bacteria on painted surfaces.
“Our attendees were given several actionable items that they could implement immediately to give their clients a healthier home environment,” said Johne Albanese, VP of corporate marketing at Hooker Furniture. “The ‘green’ movement is becoming a vital part of the interior design process, and these strategies will keep them up to date on the latest developments.”
“The interior design segment is an important distribution channel for Hooker Furniture, and programs that are designed to address the unique business models of designers are an important way for us to serve them,” said Albanese.
According to Albanese the company recently established national partnerships with IDS and the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) in order to deepen its knowledge of the interior design channel and support their membership.
Albanese said the event was part of an effort to position Hooker as a “go-to” resource for interior designers when designing living spaces for their clients.
