Pearson Launches Tony Duquette Collection

Upholstery producer Pearson is set to reveal the Tony Duquette Collection at next month’s High Point Spring Market, the first licensed collection for the company.

In collaboration with Hutton Wilkinson, president of Tony Duquette, the Pearson team has created a collection of sofas, banquettes, chairs and cocktail ottomans that were reproduced or adapted from custom made pieces created for the homes of Tony Duquette and Hutton Wilkinson.

“While Pearson is steeped in history and tradition,” said Parker Goss, vp of merchandising, “we see Pearson as an elegant lady who loves fashion, style and elegant fabrics.”

“We are confident that interior designers will fall in love with the beauty and elegance of the Tony Duquette Collection. We look forward to applying their one-of-a-kind fabric, leather and trimmings to these new pieces that
are made by our talented team of craftsmen in our Hickory workroom,” Goss continued.

Considered masters of maximalism, Duquette and Wilkinson have impacted the world of interior design for decades.

Before hiring Wilkinson as his apprentice in the early 70s, Duquette established himself as a leading designer in Los Angeles. There, he worked for the film industry, creating costumes and settings for many Metro Goldwyn Mayer productions.

Duquette is considered an exploratory artists who has rescued architectural artifacts from demolitions and scavenged natural objects to create incredible sculptures, screens, lighting and furniture forms for his clients.
