Report: Wal-Mart to Sell Private-Label Mattresses Online
February 26,
2018 by Larry Thomas in Business Strategy, Industry
Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT), which last week began rolling out a greatly expanded assortment of furniture and home décor on its e-commerce site, is set to launch a separate site that sells a private label mattress line, the New York Times reported.
The mattress line, called Allswell, is a direct challenge to Casper, Leesa, Tuft & Needle, Purple, Saatva, and the many other bed-in-a-box players who have burst onto the mattress industry scene the past three years.
The Times story said the site will go live next month, and will include top-of-bed products. None of the items will be available in Wal-Mart stores or on the Walmart.com web site.
The consumer’s old mattress will be hauled away when the new one is delivered for a $50 fee, the story said.
