Report: Harden Furniture to Resume Limited Production

Harden Furniture, which abruptly shut down last week after the company’s sale at a foreclosure auction, plans to restart production on a limited basis, according to several media reports.

A story in the Syracuse (N.Y.) Post-Standard said CEO Greg Harden remains hopeful that additional investors can be brought in to restructure the company and resume full operations.

Based in McConnellsville, N.Y., the company was founded in 1844 and is believed to be the oldest producer of residential furniture in North America. Greg Harden is the fifth generation of the Harden family to run the company.

The high-end producer had about 175 employees when it was shut down.
