Jofran Founder Bob Roy Dies at 79

Robert “Bob” Roy, founder of furniture importer Jofran, passed away Jan. 29. He was 79.

Roy founded Jofran in 1975, when importing furniture from Asia was a rarity. But the company grew rapidly and became a major resource for bedroom, dining room, occasional, home office and home entertainment furniture.

Survivors include his son, Joffrey Roy, who is president of Jofran, and a daughter, Randi Roy.

A memorial service is planned for today at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel in Brookline, Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rhode Island Interfaith Coalition to Reduce Poverty, c/o Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island, 401 Elmgrove Avenue, Providence, R.I., 02906.
