Surya received the AMCA award for machine-made rugs priced $200 or less, while Nourison was honored in the licensee category and for machine-made rugs priced $400 and above.
Nourison’s winning design in the licensee category was the Cosmopolite Noir rug from its Christopher Guy Collection, while its Twilight rug in Ivory Grey topped the machine-made category priced $400 and above.
The Cosmopolite Noir is a wool and silk rug featuring white silk layers with deep noir to create a three dimensional effect.
The hand-washed and hand-finished Twilight rug features a spectrum of neutrals that expands from the nucleus of rich platinum tones into an effusion of taupe rays on a soft ivory ground.
Surya’s winning entry was the Harput rug, which features a traditional center medallion design with an updated, vibrant color palette.
The winning rug is machine made with polypropylene fibers in a high pile, center medallion design. The mesmerizing display of color has a kaleidoscope effect, including varying shades of garnet, burnt orange, saffron, dark blue, teal, white, and light gray.
“We could not be more excited to accept this award for a second year,” said Satya Tiwari, president of Surya. “The Harput collection had a phenomenal year in sales as well as media buzz, which is a testament to our product development team’s ability to identify the styles and trends that will be successful for Surya and, more importantly, our customers. This also emphasizes the importance of providing high quality at an affordable price point, which is exactly what the Harput collection represents.”
