Hall of Fame Opens Nominations for 2018 Inductees

The American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations for its 2018 induction class.

All members of the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation are eligible to submit and second nominations, which are due Feb. 1.

To qualify for consideration, the individual must conduct business in the United States, have served in the industry for at least 15 years, have created a legacy as a positive influence and champion of the industry, and should have achieved the pinnacle of their careers and be atleast 60 years old.

For posthumous nominations, the individual must have been deceased for at least 12 months prior to the date of the nomination.

To submit a nomination or re-nomination, foundation members are required to complete the Nomination Form found on the website at www.homefurnishingshalloffame.com. A print or 300 dpi digital photo of the candidate must be enclosed.

All nominations must be seconded, in writing, by another foundation member.

The completed nomination package must be postmarked no later than Feb. 1 and sent to American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc., 202 Neal Place, Suite 101, High Point, N.C.  27262.

Members may also obtain printed copies of the documents by calling (336)882-5900.

“We are looking across the industry for those individuals who demonstrate continuing excellence and who have made contributions that have changed the industry, whatever their role may be – retail, case goods, upholstery, casual and outdoor, bedding, home accents, lighting, wall art, accessories, rugs, soft goods, product designers, sales representatives, and suppliers,” said Bob Maricich, president of the foundation.

“If you know someone that you think is worthy of induction, this is your opportunity to nominate them for consideration by the selection committee.  As a member of the foundation, this is your privilege,” he added.

Maricich said a seven-member selection committee will evaluate individuals who demonstrate enduring excellence, superior accomplishments, innovation and creativity, and philanthropic generosity of their time, talents and resources.

The final selection is determined by a points-based system, with ballots cast individually online by each committee member. The ballots are received and verified by the foundation’s accounting firm, Sharrard McGee.

New inductees will be honored Oct. 14 during the High Point Market.
