Vegas Market Opens Global Goodness Awards Competition

Las Vegas Market has started accepting entries for the seventh annual Global Goodness Awards, which recognize furniture, home décor and gift companies for environmentally-friendly, sustainable and socially responsible business practices.

Entries will be accepted through Jan. 5, and awards will be presented during the Winter Market, which takes place Jan. 28-Feb. 1.

Global Goodness Awards will be bestowed upon one company in each of the Market’s three major categories—furniture, home décor and gift—as well as one additional People’s Choice Award selected on the Market’s Facebook page.

“Las Vegas Market is proud to recognize exhibitors whose production and business practices are making positive impacts not only on the industry, but also on communities around the world,” said Esther Ossei-Anto, gift brand manager for International Market Centers. “As the leading furniture, home decor and gift destination in the western United States, Las Vegas Market is proud to present Global Goodness Awards to these corporate ‘good citizens’ who have incorporated sustainable practices and social responsibility into product manufacturing.”

Las Vegas Market exhibitors can submit award entries by sharing their unique stories through text and photographs.  Submissions should address the socially-responsible products offered, countries visited and people or organizations supported and include high-resolution photos to illustrate the essay.

Past award recipients are not eligible to apply.

A panel of industry sustainability and social responsibility experts – Colvin English of ByHand Consulting, Susan Inglis of the Sustainable Furnishings Council and Carol MacNulty of Aid to Artisans – will review the entries and select one winner from each of the Market’s core industries. Winning entries, plus the People’s Choice winner, will be posted on LasVegasMarket.com, and each will receive special at-market recognition signage.

The Global Goodness awards program supplements an ongoing partnership Las Vegas Market has with the Sustainable Furnishings Council to create One Good World, a guide to sustainable furniture and home décor products to help connect legitimate suppliers and retailers in this new era of sustainability and accountability.

The effort includes a sustainable products locator program showcasing relevant at-Market resources, expanded educational offerings addressing issues and opportunities connected with sustainability.
