Hooker Furniture Names Social Media Contest Winners

Hooker Furniture (NASDAQ: HOFT), and its Bradington-Young and Sam Moore Furniture brands have announced the winners of the company’s first to-the-trade social media photo contest, which was held during last month’s High Point Market.

During Market week, retailers and designers who tagged any of the company’s three brands in a photo with its new social media hashtags, #GetHooked, #BYDesign, or #MooreStyle were entered to win a $50 Starbucks gift card.

Three winners for each brand were randomly selected, and as an incentive to promote retailer and designer participation, the sales representatives for each of the winning accounts also received a $50 gift card.

Winners for each brand were:

  • Hooker Case Goods: Art Van Furniture (Rep: Craig Johnston), Wheeler’s Furniture (Rep: Steve Hankins), Woodstock Furniture & Mattress Outlet (Rep: Powell Cooper)
  • Hooker Upholstery: Andrea Hickman Design (Rep: David Moldenhauer), Jordanna Oslac, Jillian Merola
  • Bradington-Young: Lea Matthews Furniture (Rep: David Taylor) and Kelly Kardian of Spiffy Stuff Atlanta (Rep: Powell Cooper)
  • Sam Moore Furniture: Puritan Furniture (Rep: Bill Millspaugh), Charter Furniture (Rep: Darryl Knight), Today’s Traditions Furniture & Design (Rep: Powell Cooper)

In all, Hooker Furniture, Bradington-Young and Sam Moore Furniture received more than 100 submissions via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

“We saw a tremendous increase in engagement and followers across all of our brands and social media platforms during Market,” said Karyn Johnson, creative director for Hooker Furniture. “In fact, our follower base grew by nearly 1,000 people during the week of Market alone.”

In August, the company initiated a major overhaul of its social media pages, changing its “voice” to include more dynamic and engaging posts. The new strategy has resulted in nearly 3,600 new followers, increasing the company’s reach on Facebook alone by 48 percent.

Increases in likes, shares, comments, mentions and retweets have significantly boosted engagement with its brands on all platforms by nearly 800 percent, the company said.

At the recent High Point Market, the company launched a Facebook Live series in its showroom, which was one of the most popular tactics among its followers, resulting in more than 8,000 views.

All winning photos and the Facebook Live videos are available on the Hooker Furniture, Bradington-Young and Sam Moore Furniture social media pages.
