Havertys to Expand Dallas-Area Distribution Center

Atlanta-based retailer Havertys (NYSE: HVT) will break ground later this month on a 150,000-square-foot expansion of its distribution center in the Dallas suburb of Coppell, Texas.

The expansion of the facility, which serves 30 Havertys stores across Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas and Louisiana, will boost its size to nearly 370,000 square feet. Completion is scheduled for April 2018.

“We’ve been planning for this expansion for quite a while as a way to improve our ability to deliver to our customers,” said Clarence Smith, chairman, president, and CEO. “We’ll be well-positioned to offer the best service to the central United States for years to come.”

The distribution center opened in 1997, and is one of seven Havertys warehouses around the country. The facility employs approximately 190 people, including distribution center employees, drivers who serve the Dallas market, customer service representatives and other professional positions.

In addition to the expanded warehouse, plans include an increased parking area that will accommodate up to 157 trailers in the truck yard at one time.

“The Western region is an important part of our company’s growth,” said John Gill, vice president of operations. “We see this expansion as an investment in the future of our company.”
