Lexington officials said the Barclay Butera brand will debut with the introduction of two lifestyle collections - Newport and Brentwood. Each takes a different approach to his innovative interpretation of "New Traditional" design.
The company said the new collections will include a significant custom upholstery component, highlighting Butera’s styling aesthetic, his keen eye for scale and tailoring and talent for creating exceptional frame and fabric correlations.
Officials said Lexington's upholstery manufacturing complex in North Carolina is ideally suited for this type of bench-made custom work, offering specialty finishes, COM options and delivery times averaging 30-days.
"Lexington has long been an industry innovator in developing collections that resonate with consumers because they speak to an aspirational lifestyle," said Phil Haney, Lexington president and CEO. "Our brand launch with Barclay Butera represents a milestone, because it's the first time we have partnered with an interior designer to collaboratively reimagine a style category.
“Recognizing that over half of affluent consumers today describe themselves as traditionalists, we see an opportunity in the marketplace to create an entirely new take on classic traditional design. Given his remarkable creativity, a diverse and proven body of work, and a proclivity for putting a fresh and relevant twist on traditional, we felt that Barclay was an ideal choice. We also appreciated the fact that he owns and operates three highly successful showrooms that ground his design vernacular in the realities of retail."
Since 1994, Butera has been the creative force behind his eponymous design firm based in Newport Beach, Calif. His signature aesthetic is distinctive - a fresh take on classic all-American style that integrates into traditional, transitional and contemporary interiors.
In addition to his private-client interior design business, Butera is an accomplished speaker, author of five design books and operates design showrooms and retail locations in Newport Beach and Corona del Mar, Calif., and Park City, Utah. He has been recognized with top design honors and featured in House Beautiful, Luxe Design + Interiors, Elle Décor, Ocean Home, Traditional Home, Veranda and Mountain Living magazines.
"I am thrilled to be collaborating with Lexington, whose reputation for product development and design innovation are best in class" said Butera. "I have been a Lexington dealer for years, allowing me to experience the strength of their commitment to quality and customer service. The company has smartly positioned themselves as a designer line with broad appeal because of styling, lifestyle merchandising and strong relative value. Lexington products are totally relevant for my high-end design jobs, yet resonate with consumers in my retail showrooms as well."
To celebrate the launch, Lexington is hosting a party on Monday, Oct. 16 in its showroom, 1300 National Highway, from 3:30 – 7 p.m. At 4 p.m., Kelly Edwards from Editor at Large will join Butera on stage for a conversation about New Traditional Style, followed by a meet-and-greet after the presentation.
