Ameriwood Recalls 1.6 Million Chests Due to Tip-Over Hazard
September 7,
2017 by Larry Thomas in Business Strategy, Industry
Ameriwood Furniture has recalled 1.6 million chests of drawers from its Mainstays collection because of a serious tip-over and entrapment hazard for children.
The four-drawer chests, sold primarily at Wal-Mart between April 2009 and May 2016, do not comply with the voluntary industry tip-over standard, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The CPSC said it had received one report of an injury after one of the units tipped over onto a four-year-old child.
The agency said consumers should stop using the chests immediately and place them in an area not accessible to children. Consumers should contact Ameriwood for a free repair kit that includes a wall anchoring device and feet for the unit.
Ameriwood can be reached at 877-222-7460 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or online at www.Ameriwood.com. Click on "support" for more information.
