Adele Arakawa, who recently retired as a TV news anchor in the Denver area, has joined The Showroom @Furniture Row, a high-end retail store set to open in Denver next month.
Furniture Row officials said Arakawa, a seven-time Emmy Award winner who anchored newscasts at Denver’s KUSA for 24 years, will be the retail store’s brand ambassador, allowing her to engage with the community while pursuing her passion for fashion, style and design.
"We are thrilled to have Adele as part of our team. Her signature style, approachability, and commitment to excellence are perfectly aligned with our brand values and promise,” said Amy Foster, lead buyer for the new store. “It's hard to imagine anyone better suited to generate interest in and excitement for Denver's ultimate luxury home furniture shopping and design experience."
Arakawa began her broadcasting career as a radio disc jockey in her hometown of LaFollette, Tenn. She made her transition to television news at WTKV-TV in Knoxville, Tenn. Before becoming news anchor for KUSA-TV, the NBC affiliate in Denver, she held similar positions in Raleigh, N.C., and Chicago.
"Becoming brand ambassador provides a wonderful transition for me,” said Arakawa. “I am able to step away from the news desk and into one of the most exciting and anticipated events of the summer — the grand opening of The Showroom @Furniture Row."
The new retail store will feature about 30 galleries from upper-end furniture manufacturers, including Bernhardt, Hancock & Moore, Marge Carson, Christopher Guy and Baker.
The store is Furniture Row’s first venture into the upper end of the market. The retailer currently has more than 330 stores in 31 states under the Sofa Mart, Oak Express, Bedroom Expressions and Denver Mattress brands.
