Serta Simmons Bedding Launches Direct-to-Consumer Unit

Mattress industry powerhouse Serta Simmons Bedding has launched a company called Tomorrow Sleep that will sell hybrid mattresses and related sleep products through a direct-to-consumer model.

The mattresses will be produced in SSB’s U.S. factories, and will be available with a range of other sleep products, including a Sleeptracker digital sleep monitor that records sleep cycles, body movements and heart rate.

“We created Tomorrow Sleep because we believe in the power of sleep to change lives,” said Bryan Murphy, the new company’s founder and president. “We saw that people are increasingly becoming aware of the importance of sleep as a cornerstone of wellness and there wasn't a great solution to address that need in the direct-to-consumer space. We’re excited to bring a truly integrated sleep system to market that will help people achieve their best sleep possible.”

Mattresses start at $550, and a complete sleep system -- including the sleep monitor, pillows, sheets, mattress protector, comforter and blackout drapes – starts at $1,300.

“We are excited to launch a unique direct-to-consumer brand that will be independently run and managed, while still leveraging the strong technology, innovation and manufacturing resources within SSB,” said Michael Traub, SSB CEO. “Tomorrow is a fantastic addition to our best-selling portfolio of brands that will address the consumer segment which prefers an online shopping experience.”

Murphy said the hybrid mattress that is the centerpiece of the product lineup combines premium temperature regulating memory foam and a wrapped coil system that delivers a balance of comfort and support. It is available in firm and plush models.

Pillows also include memory foam that is blended with a hypoallergenic filling material called Memorelle, while Tomorrow Sleep’s 500 thread-count sheets are made of U.S.-grown Supima cotton.
