Mattress retailer Sleep Outfitters is celebrating the opening of three stores in the Knoxville, Tenn., market this weekend by throwing a series of “pajama parties” featuring a local author.
The retailer said Knoxville author Jennifer Hultz will read her book “Hopkins Goes to the Beach,” at each of the new stores, and children who attend the reading can enter a drawing for a signed copy of the book. Adults who attend the event wearing pajamas can enter a drawing for a free mattress set.
Hultz's book was inspired by her family's dog of the same name, and in solidarity with Hopkins, the Humane Society of Eastern Tennessee will bring rescue dogs to the events.
"We've worked hard to open the Sleep Outfitters stores in Knoxville," said Kim Knopf, CEO of Innovative Mattress Solutions, parent company of Sleep Outfitters. "Now we're ready to celebrate by throwing a fun, family-themed community party with book readings, rescue dogs, music, food and maybe even a friendly pillow fight."
Additionally, Sleep Outfitters has partnered with Knoxville Parks and Recreation, Wesley House and Farragut Primary School to establish Little Free Libraries so children have greater access to books. Sleep Outfitters will donate the libraries, which will be installed this summer. The public is invited to bring gently used children's books and young adult books to the pajama parties to help stock the libraries.
Innovative Mattress Solutions operates about 160 mattress specialty stores under the Sleep Outfitters, Mattress Warehouse and Mattress King names in West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and Alabama.
