Fine Furniture Design said it has fully converted the finish line in its Shanghai factory to water-based finishes that are environmentally friendly and more durable.
The new stain-resistant finish, called Fine Furniture Armour, is now standard on all FFD products.
The High Point-based case goods and upholstery manufacturer tested a variety of materials on the finish, such as wine, ketchup and nail polish remover. After a 24-hour period, the stains were effortlessly wiped away with a soft cloth dampened with water.
“After scouring the industry to find the highest quality finishing materials available, our engineering team developed an exclusive technique for applying it in our factory,” said Eric Graham, president of Fine Furniture Design. “The result is a custom-built, state-of-the-art production line that applies the protective finish at every stage, from the wood grain to the top coat.
“Fine Furniture Armour has a hardness to it that can’t be found ‘off the shelf,’” he continued. “Our engineering team worked tirelessly – from the research and planning stages through installation and testing – to achieve this innovative new finish, which not only provides environmental benefits, but also remarkable durability and clarity.”
The company has produced a time-lapse video of the stain removal process that’s available on its website, www.ffdm.com. In addition, the company will be rolling out a variety of marketing materials in the coming months to promote Fine Furniture Armour with its retail partners. Materials include trade advertisements, retail and showroom signage, sales materials, tear sheets and other retail point-of-sale tools.
