Amazon is planning a bigger push into furniture and appliances with the construction of four large warehouses that will allow it to improve logistics and delivery of the bulky items and compete with the likes of Wayfair, according to a recent report by The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires.
The report didn’t say where the warehouses would be built, but said they were a key element of the e-commerce giant’s plan to take the furniture category more seriously.
An Amazon executive was quoted as saying furniture is one of its fastest-growing retail categories, and the retailer is in the midst of expanding its offerings.
