Retailer Room & Board, which operates 17 stores in nine states and the District of Columbia, plans to build a 250,000 square-foot warehouse and distribution center near Newton, N.C., according to a story in the Charlotte Business Journal.
The $12.9 million facility is expected to open in late 2020.
Room & Board doesn’t have any stores in North Carolina, but the retailer picked the site because it is near several of its key furniture vendors, according to the Business Journal story.
The story said the Catawba County Commissioners and Newton City Council approved a package of incentives that will reduce the facility’s property taxes by about half for three years.
