Report: Amazon Eyeing Brick-and-Mortar Furniture, Appliance Stores
March 27,
2017 by Larry Thomas in Business Strategy, Industry
Online behemoth Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), which already is experimenting with brick-and-mortar book stores and grocery stores, is considering opening furniture and appliance stores that would employ cutting-edge augmented or virtual reality, the New York Times reported over the weekend.
The newspaper, quoting anonymous sources said to be familiar with Amazon's discussions on the topic, said the new technologies would allow consumers to visualize how a piece of furniture or appliance would look in their home before buying it.
The story had no information on the size of the stores or where they might be located.
