Ashley to Build 850,000 Square-Foot Distribution Center in Texas

Ashley Furniture Inds. will build an 850,000 square-foot distribution and fulfillment center in Mesquite, Texas, city officials announced this week.
The $65 million facility will be built on a 365-acre tract at the eastern edge of the city and employ about 350 people.
“We could not be more proud and excited that Ashley Furniture Industries Inc. has chosen the Mesquite community to call home for their next distribution and fulfillment facility,” said Mesquite Mayor Stan Pickett.
The agreement between the city and Ashley “encourages” the company to expand the facility in the future to create additional local jobs, the mayor said.
“The City of Mesquite has embraced our company and has proven to be a business-friendly environment with a strong workforce, allowing ample opportunity for growth,” said Todd Wanek, Ashley president and CEO. “As a customer-centric company, the investment to build in Mesquite is one we feel will result in improved efficiencies to better serve our world-wide customers.”
